The state workers (ATE) of the National Service for Animal Health and Agri-Food Quality (Senasa) ratified the national strike of ten days running from this midnight until 0 on September 30 next, with mobilizations included, in rejection of the 2017 Budget for the body sent to Congress.<\/p>\n

The protest was called by the national leadership of the Association of State Workers led by Hugo Godoy through the ATE-Senasa National Coordination, led by Jorge Ravetti.<\/p>\n

Faced with this panorama of lack of sanitary control, especially at the borders, the president of the public body, Luis Dillon, pointed out to T\u00e9lam tonight the official \u201cdisagreement\u201d with the measure of union force and assured that after evaluating the situation, the Authorities will release a statement in the coming days.<\/p>\n

"For now we will not comment. We will observe the events and, after evaluating the situation, Senasa will publish a public document. But obviously we totally disagree with the measure of force decided by the ATE. In that sense, today we send a note to the union expressing that total disagreement, "the official said tonight in statements to this agency.<\/p>\n

In this context, the union called a press conference at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at the Plaza de los Dos Congresos, in which the members of the National Coordination ATE-Senasa and the National Council of the union organization will participate.<\/p>\n

That day there will also be an open radio to convene national deputies to debate the 2017 budget, explanatory brochures and banners will be distributed to explain the fundamental role that the body plays in guaranteeing the public health of the population and agricultural foreign trade.<\/p>\n

"It is impossible for Senasa to raise more than 6 billion (and that only a little more than half of the annual budget has been foreseen) if it does not guarantee the health and quality of exportable products and animals, in a model that the government promotes . Rain of investments and lack of financing from the body that guarantees health and quality cannot go hand in hand, \u201dsaid the union.<\/p>\n

A statement stated that \u201cwith amazement and outrage the 2017 budget numbers for Senasa were read. It is just 3,746 million pesos in expenses, plus a resource of 6,192 million (in the projection of own collection in rates, tariffs and the percentage of imports). It is a restriction of $ 2,446 million to finance the Treasury deficit \u201d.<\/p>\n

The leaders assured that the organism's budget was reduced in real terms, as were the items for operational operation compared to 2016, even nominally, so that Senasa "will be totally paralyzed."<\/p>\n

\u201cThe organization was historically financed with its own collection and contributions from the Treasury. In 2017, not only will it not contribute anything but it will appropriate a large part of the collection derived from fees, tariffs and foreign trade, which the agency must control and which is a collection specifically intended for it, \u201dhe said.<\/p>\n

The unionists pointed out that, in this way, it will be impossible to resolve the existing "extreme job insecurity".<\/p>\n

They also announced that "plant health security will be in serious danger, especially after the resurgence of FMD and HLB, which will mean the end of exports."<\/p>\n

"It is necessary to protect the population and the export capacity of these scourges. For the same reason, it is an exemplary and forceful struggle of the 6,800 Senasa workers, because everyone's health and the labor situation are at stake, \u201dthey concluded.<\/p>\n

The workers demand an increase in the budget, the passage to article 9 of the contracted (monotributistas), the effectiveization of the contests 2014, the cessation of automation and the rejection of the repeal of decree 4,238 that legislates the activity of Senasa and privatization of non-delegable functions of the State.<\/p>\n
