\nPeel Ports, owner and operator of the port of Liverpool, has reached an important milestone in its investment program that seeks to transform it into the first semi-automatic container terminal in Europe. The Operating System at Terminal Navis N4 (TOS) and Autogates is already installed and fully operational after the construction and commissioning of programs.
\nThe new service conditions and the 10 AutoGates lanes is the latest phase of the \u00a3 300 million project to redevelop, expand and develop Liverpool2, consolidating its position as the UK's largest deep sea port and receiver of ocean liners. The \u00a3 9.7 million investment information systems platform, which has undergone rigorous testing in recent weeks, will reduce response times through a streamlined process from the onshore sector or dock entrance to exit .
\nThe fully automated AutoGate system uses state-of-the-art technologies to handle gate operations, ensuring that all containers and trucks are automatically identified before entering or leaving the terminal. Optical Character Recognition (Advanced OCR) and technology used in entry lanes that automatically detect the presence of the seal links to the opener software for doors opening and seamlessly integrates with existing Peel Ports terminal operating software , Navis N4, and Customer Access Portal (CAP). The security process is completed with the use of biometric fingerprint data to validate the identification of the driver and his cargo.
\nFunctioning
\nBefore arriving at the port, the carrier records the data of his truck in a simple and streamlined online system. The system will scan the truck, capturing all details (container number, type, size, seals, damage to containers) automatically using optical character recognition. It will also explore the license plate and take a photo of the driver. The driver will proceed to a box, scan their biometric identification card (this is linked to the online account used to register the cargo) and answer some simple questions on a touch screen monitor. Upon entering the terminal, the system will direct the driver to the crane where he will load or unload.
\n\u201cThe introduction of Autogates and the new Navis N4 TOS is a very important step for us. We made the bold decision to combine both initiatives into one project to minimize any disruption to our clients' normal operations and to provide global benefits earlier. Although this decision was made with added risks, we have managed to upgrade our capabilities thanks to the planning and hard work of the entire team for many months, "said David Huck, port manager.
