The act will be at 14 and will be chaired by the Buenosairean governor Daniel Scioli. In this way, the Puerto de La Plata terminal will be put into operation.

Tomorrow at 2:00 pm the start of operations of the new container terminal of the Port of La Plata will take place. It should be remembered that the TecPlata terminal closed an agreement with Patagonia Shiping Line, of the Ultrapetrol shipping company. The company links the ports of Ushuaia with those of Buenos Aires, Montevideo, and now the terminal in La Plata with its transportation service. A load will arrive every 15 days, according to the Comex Online portal.

Regarding this important event, the Mayor of Berisso Enrique Slezack pointed out that "upon arrival of this first container ship from Tierra del Fuego, it means the definitive reactivation of the local Port". He also stated that "the activity will be open to the entire community, so those who come to the event will have the unique opportunity to witness the operational operation of one of the most modern port terminals in Latin America." On this point he expressed: "As mayor of Berisso, I want to invite each of the institutions, clubs, communities, development centers, senior centers, the media, neighbors, militants and councilors of the different blocks, to share and to be witnesses of this historical and refundational event for the city ”.

Technical characteristics of the first container ship
The Container Terminal, in its first operation, will receive a 150 meter long vessel from the Argentine navigation line "PATAGONIA Shipping Lines" with national cabotage cargo.

The arrival of this first ship will mean the start-up of an alternative terminal with a dock of more than 660 linear meters. It is important to mention that the local Terminal has a long dock to operate simultaneously with two “Super Post Panamax” ships and fifteen hectares of beach for container stowage, with the largest capacity available in the country for refrigerated containers.

It also has four state-of-the-art gantry cranes, with a scope that allows it to serve container ships with up to 20 positions and more modern portal systems that are used in container terminals.

The port infrastructure work, which was carried out with the support of the provincial and national governments, allows Puerto La Plata to be in a position to offer an alternative for containerized cargo with origin or destination in Argentina, complementary to other national public ports and with conditions similar to regional ports abroad. The new terminal will avoid transfers that make transportation more expensive and will allow Argentine products to compete on an equal footing in the world market, the operating company noted.
